Rwanda Highlights Opportunities for Stronger Denmark–Africa Partnerships in Copenhagen
Copenhagen, Denmark — Rwanda was highlighted as a case study in how strong institutions, innovation and shared interests can underpin a new generation of Denmark–Africa partnerships during a high-level dialogue on Denmark’s Africa Strategy held in Copenhagen.
The dialogue brought together a distinguished Danish-African audience for an open and insightful exchange on how Denmark, Europe and Africa can build partnerships based on mutual value, shared opportunity and long-term cooperation. The discussion featured H.E. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and Stine Bosse, Member of the European Parliament, and Ambassador Dr.Diane Gashumba, alongside representatives of the Danish-African community and partners.
Rwanda’s experience demonstrated how strategic cooperation can move beyond traditional development models towards investment, innovation and joint value creation. Transparency, accountability, institution-building and action-oriented leadership remain central to Rwanda’s transformation and its engagement with international partners.
The green economy was identified as a particularly promising area for Denmark–Africa cooperation, bringing together Danish expertise in innovation and financing with Africa’s growing talent, markets and entrepreneurial potential.
With Denmark’s strengths in life sciences, technology, innovation and sustainable finance, and Africa’s young and rapidly growing workforce, the opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships are significant.
