Sweden Commemorates Kwibuka32 with Ibuka Sweden and the Rwandan Community
Kwibuka32 commemorations in Sweden brought together over 200, as Ambassador Dr. Diane Gashumba and the team of the Embassy of Rwanda to the Nordic Countries joined Ibuka Sweden, the Rwandan community in Sweden, and friends to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The community came together to honour the memory of innocent victims, stand in solidarity with survivors, and pay tribute to the bravery of the Rwanda Defence Force soldiers who helped bring Rwanda out of its darkest time. Reflections shared by speakers, together with moving testimonies, underscored the importance of remembrance, unity, and resilience.
Messages of hope and love from the younger generation, combined with a strong sense of unity and trust in collective strength, continued to inspire hope for a brighter future. The commitment of Rwandan women and men living in Sweden to uphold positive values — grounded in dignity, solidarity, and mutual respect — further strengthened this hope and contributed to building a more inclusive and compassionate society.
